5th International Young Naturalists’ Tournament
The Tournament challenges participants with interesting and non-trivial tasks that go far beyond the school curriculum or a specific discipline, be it Physics, Chemistry or Biology. This helps young researchers put together a picture of the world fragmented by the school curriculum, demonstrate their ingenuity, discussion skills and ability to protect their own point of view before their peers from other countries and a professional judging panel.
The Tournament includes a number of scientific battles and is held in English, thus giving the participants a great chance to use the language in a live discussion and enrich their specialized scientific vocabulary.
The 5th International Young Naturalists’ Tournament was organized on the basis of Nanjing Foreign Language School, which is one of the oldest and most prestigious schools in China. It gathered 18 teams from 11 countries this year. New Zealand team was the absolute winner of the Tournament outperforming its competitors from Switzerland and Nanjing.
Belarusian team took the 11th place. Our country was represented by BSU Lyceum pupils Anna Kozeko, Maria Krasnova, Anastasia Pantelei, Roman Vlasovets, Vladimir Polotnyuk, and Andrey Pevny. Team leaders were Ivan Syulzhin and Olga Ugnacheva.
After the competition, the participants had an opportunity to see China from the inside, not only visiting common places of interest but also getting acquainted with the structure of the Chinese society and school in particular.
